Bringing the Otter to Life

There’s something magical about transforming a simple sheet of paper into a textured, layered piece of art. For this project, I used Josephiena’s Collage Paper “Wild Life 3” (CP-088) — featuring our very own hand-painted otter. The artwork is printed on beautifully thin printer paper, which makes it easy to cut, glue, and blend seamlessly into any background.

Made the base with some paint and the number stencil of Josephiena`s Design. The stars and the train are stamps of Crealies. The stars are stamped with Archival ink. The train is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with ecoline brush pens.

First I pasted old book pages into pieces all over the page. Then I spread a thin layer of gesso over it. I applied a little color with stencils. The color Light Pinkish Orange by Cadence turned out to fit very nicely with the picture of the blossom.

As a base, I used Watercolor paper 200g from Crealies. First I made a yellowish egg with the egg figure stencil of Josephiena's Design and Distress ink Mustard Seed. I left the egg stencil on my paper and put the gear stencil over it. With Distress ink Frayed Burlap and Spiced Marmalade, I applied the gears for a cool steampunk look. Then I applied Stains, Stains with coffee tea Day and stencil.
